It has been so long since I've posted - I need to get back on track! Life just kind of got in the way, but you know how that goes. To follow up with my last post, this is the last pile of stuff I was able to donate to the Buffalo City Mission - all that clipping and shopping is worth it! I have never taken stuff down there myself, but it was really easy... you actually just pull your car up and someone comes out to take it for you!

...needs to find a place to donate all of the crap I've been buying!
Lots of great deals at Rite Aid this week - I can't believe I've been missing out on shopping at this store! It feels like they just want me to take whatever I feel like it off of the shelves without paying, because that's pretty much what happens every week...

...To maintain her sanity
I took a few days off of shopping this week - I just needed some time away from coupons, driving from store to store and grouchy cashiers. But off I went today for a quick stop, since I couldn't pass up this deal...

...a shopping break, but who can stay away from these deals?
Another quick stop at Tops this morning (I'm a sucker for the double dollar coupons)
Bought 2 Yogos fruit snacks $2/5 used $1/2 coupon and doubler coupon = $3 (plus they have the codes inside for a free movie pass when you collect 5)
Juicy juice boxes $2 used $1 coupon when you buy 2 fruit snacks and a doubler coupon = free
Lance sandwich crackers $2 used $1 coupon and a doubler coupon = free
Swiffer febreeze furniture spray $3.49 used $1 coupon and a doubler coupon =$1.49 (this is one thing I would pay full price for because the lavender vanilla kind makes my whole house smell so good!)
Total cost = $4.49 (plus half of a free movie :)
Rite Aid
I was so excited yesterday because I received a rebate in the mail from Rite Aid I have been waiting forever for... it was from a previous deal I did - get $30 in gift cards when you spend $50 on Skin Care products. I ended up getting the skin care stuff pretty much for free, so the gift cards were a bonus! I am excited to use them so I don't have to use anything out of pocket and I am curious to see how much stuff I can get for free with them. Today this was what I bought:
Listerine mouthwash $3.99 used $1 coupon and $1 Rite Aid coupon and qualifies for $15 gift card back when you spend $25 on oral care = $1.99
Colgate Toothpaste $1.50 used $.75 coupon also qualifies for the oral care rebate
2 Nivea Men body wash $3.00 used 2 $1 coupons =$2 each
2 Pepsi max used 1 B1G1 free coupon and 1 Rite Aid B1G1 free coupon = free
Boudreaux's Butt Paste $3.99 used $1 coupon and Rite Aid $3 coupon = free
Nivea lip smoothie $2.99 used $1 coupon will submit for $1 rebate = .99
Makeup - 2 eyeshadows, eyeliner, lipgloss, eye makeup remover, nail polish $1.99 each B1G1 free used $5/$10 coupon = $.97 for all 6 items!
Used $4/20 Rite Aid coupon Total came to $5.79
Earned $4 in rewards off of my next purchase, so total really came to $1.79 for all of the above! And that doesn't even include the rebates :) I used to hate shopping at Rite Aid before I learned how to use coupons, now I wonder how they even stay open with deals like these!

...to not be lectured
I made a quick trip to Tops today after work and bought the following...
2 Frigo string cheese $4.99 B1G1 free used 2 $1 coupons and 2 doubler coupons = $.99
2 Wheat thins 2/$5 used 2 $1 coupons and 2 doubler coupons = $1
for some reason my total only came to $.99
(FYI: the coupons are technically only supposed to be on shopping orders of $15 or more. I have never had a cashier who has cared but today I got in the line of a woman who was hoping for cashier of the month or something. She lectured me for 5 minutes on their coupon policy, but let me do it anyway, so whatever...)

...to find a new hobby other than shopping
I got lots of good deals today, although it is such a pain to get myself organized before hitting the stores. And don't even get me started on the dirty looks other customers shoot my way when they see my huge pile of coupons, but I digress... Tops is my favorite store this week - Double Dollar Coupons!! 10 years ago I never would have believed this could be so exciting - ahh, how things change... I used to look forward to "80's night" at Rumour's night club, and now I am thrilled to save an extra dollar. Oh well... anyway - My shopping trips for today:

...to win!
Something is going on because I never win anything...ever...never... This week alone I have won 2 giveaways on blogs I like! A $25 gas gift card from thecoupongoddess.blogspot.com and a $10 Shutterfly gift card from givemeneither.com! I feel like I should buy a lottery ticket or head out to the casino... Anyway, entering giveaways on blogs is super easy and obviously easy to win - take it from me! Mel at thecoupongoddess.blogspot.com is hosting a $60 gift card giveaway right now that only lasts a few days, so chances are good! Go check it out! Fingers crossed...
...to prepare
I saw a good deal on a blog I like to follow hip2save.com for 100 free business cards with free shipping. I thought - wow, that's a good deal, but what would I do with business cards? I found lots with really cool designs, but ended up choosing a plain card with pretty black swirls and writing: Merry Christmas! To: From: Jessica and Jonathan - I'm sure that 100 gift cards will come in handy when wrapping Christmas presents this year - especially when they are free! To check out this deal (only good until 9/1), go to zazzle.com, order 100 business cards worth $16.95 and use the code ZAZSHIPSFREE (don't forget to change shipping to economy free shipping too!)
...to spoil other people's children
With no children to call my own, I enjoy borrowing other people's kids for the day. Today I "borrowed" Hannah for what we refer to as an "adventure" and headed off to the Buffalo Zoo...
That's Hannah - isn't she the cutest thing ever?! Yes, she is eating a sucker at 9 o'clock in the morning - when we go on "adventures" anything goes!
We met up with Emily and Nolan at the Zoo - it was a cool and balmy 93 degrees in Buffalo today - ugh!

After 3 hot, sticky hours at the zoo, Hannah wanted to know where we were going next :) Home to take a nap, that's where! That's the most beautiful part of "adventures" with other people's kids - I get to give them whatever they want for a short time, then drop them off and go home to nap the rest of the afternoon away...

...to celebrate!
Yesterday was my husband's birthday! The only thing he wanted was for me to cook his favorite dinner - Grandma's homemade macaroni and cheese, broccoli and meatloaf that he swears is the best he's ever tasted. I would have chosen a nice restaurant myself, but I guess that's a compliment :) Here is the recipe for the meatloaf I made that is quick, easy and delicious!
"BEST EVER" MEATLOAF
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
3 slices of bread
1/2 cup chopped onion
4 oz. shredded cheese (I like to use cheddar)
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 pounds of lean ground beef
Topping:
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon of mustard
Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Beat the eggs and milk. Add torn pieces of bread and let stand until the bread absorbs the liquid (I also beat the bread into the egg/milk mixture to combine it really well). Stir in the onion and cheese. Add the ground beef and mix well (hands work well for this part). Shape into a loaf.
Combine the topping ingredients and spoon over the meatloaf after about 20 minutes and continue to spoon over mealoaf every 10 minutes while it is cooking. This delicious meatloaf will be ready after 45 minutes.
I am generally not a big fan of meatloaf (and actually just decided to go vegetarian again), but this one is really yummy! Using fresh bread keeps it very moist and there is plenty for leftovers. Let me know what you think!
